Overview
Avaya IP Office brings together voice, data and the Internet in one easily managed solution. Instead of relying on separate networks and separate systems, you can consolidate voice and data communications on LANs and WANs and take advantage of new ways of serving customers, connecting locations and streamlining information flow.
Capabilities
• Local Area Network—
Leverage your existing LAN for voice calls via integrated, dual-speed 10/100 Mbps LAN ports on the IP403 and a built-in LAN switch on the IP406, IP412 and Small Office Edition. With the VoIP Gateway and Voice Compression Module (VCM), up to 60 voice over IP calls can be carried at any one time, along with normal data traffic.
• Wide Area Network—
Link multiple offices via ISDN dial-up or 56k/64k, T1/E1, leased lines, managed IP or Frame Relay. The built-in router supports the RIP-2 protocol for dynamic data routing. Use the built-in CSU on the T1 card for voice connections. IP Office employs a Frame Relay Assembler Disassembler (FRAD) so that voice and data traffic is formatted and framed for Frame Relay.
• DHCP Server—
To facilitate data communications, Avaya IP Office can act as a DHCP server, assign IP addresses and simplify the IP address allocation process, for up to 200 addresses.
• IP Virtual Private Network—
IP Office supports 4 simultaneous connections via IP VPN (up to 10 with the IP412) and allows you to use a VPN for voice traffic, leveraging your existing investment and network reach. Security standards such as L2TP and IPSec ensure that information transferred via VPNs is protected.
• Secure Internet access and VPN—
Avaya IP Office comes out of the box with an integrated firewall and VPN support
with L2TP and IPSec for secure site-to-site communications. The largest Avaya IP Office system (IP412) employs two LAN ports separated by a firewall. The X.21/V.35 WAN interface provides shared, secure, high-speed access to the Internet via external T1/PRI or digital leased line services. The firewall will perform Network Address Translation, filter
IP protocols (FTP, HTTP, VoIP, H.323), manage Internet access, and can even place limits on calls to a particular ISP (Internet Service Provider).
